Siyahsefid — Black and white

Siyahsefid

Oil on canvas · Dimensions to confirm · Year to confirm

Four pale blooms open from a plant set in a plain square pot, the whole thing suspended in a darkness that has been rubbed and worked rather than simply filled. The Persian title means black and white. The blooms are the only light in the picture, and they are not quite white.
